5 Window Cleaning Tips

When was the last time you cleaned your windows?

How often do you wash your home’s windows? Although this is a burdensome chore that many homeowners loathe, you don’t want to neglect the cleanliness of your windows. They are an important feature of any home. Consider the following items the next time you clean your windows!

Vinegar is one of the most common household products. It can be used for anything from salad dressings to household cleaning tasks. It is very inexpensive and can be picked up at virtually any grocery store. The high acidity in vinegar makes it an excellent cleaning product for windows. It can go right through grease and other gunk that has accumulated on your windows. Another benefit to using vinegar as a cleaning product is that it does not leave any streaks behind.

Razor Blades

It can be a real pain to try and remove paint and debris from windows. However, did you know that a simple razor blade can serve as an excellent window cleaning tool? If you are careful, you can take a razor blade directly to the surface of the glass to scrape away any unwanted debris. You just want to be sure that the window is wet when you are using one.

Steel Wool

Over the years, windows can accumulate some significant amounts of gunk and stains. Steel wool is one of the best things you can use to remove it from your windows. In addition to vinegar and razor blades, steel wool is very inexpensive.

One of the best window cleaning tools you can pick up at a store is a squeegee. Once you have thoroughly washed your windows, you can wipe them clean using a squeegee. Just be sure to clean the blade in between strokes with a rag. Arguably the greatest benefit to using a squeegee is that it does not leave any streaks behind.
