Should I Get New Or Replacement Windows?

Do you know the difference between “new” and “replacement” windows? Many homeowners don’t fully understand the distinction. New windows generally require more labor that replacement windows because there needs to be more work done to the current window opening. In many cases, this involves changing the size/shape to accommodate the windows that are going to be installed. Replacement windows, on the other hand, is simply a matter of swapping out your old window with something that fits in with the existing frame or trim. Generally speaking, new windows are going to be more expensive because they require more labor than replacement windows.

Types of Window Styles

Some popular window styles available today include bay windows, double-hung windows, double-hung windows, slider windows and push-out windows. Nowadays, windows are commonly constructed using wood, aluminum, and vinyl.

Window Glass Options

After you have decided on a style, you need to determine then which type of glass you want for your windows. Nowadays, you have more options than traditional glass. For example, you can elect to have your new windows be constructed with impact resistant glass. This type of glass is a viable option because it can withstand extreme weather conditions.
